India’s G20 Presidency and Artificial Intelligence

Abstract
The G20, or Group of twenty, is a forum for governments, central bank governors, from 19 countries, and the European Union (EU). The G20 was established in 1999 as a means for leaders from the world’s largest economics to come together and discuss key economic and financial issues. The G20 is a forum comprising 19 countries with some of the world’s largest economies, as well as the European Union. The countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, The United Kingdom, and the United States. Spain is invited as a permanent guest. G20 matters because together, the nations of the G20 account for around 80 percent of global economic output, nearly 75 percent of global exports, and about 60 percent of the world’s population. The G20 plays a significant role in shaping global economic policy, and its member countries work together to promote growth and stability in the global economy. The G20 also addresses a range of other global issues including climate change, financial regulations, anti-corruption, and development. The G20 leaders in the summit usually discuss and agree on important statements and communiques outlining their positions and common goals. G20 also has different formats of engagement with stake holders such as business, civil society, think tanks, academics etc. to ensure the broader impact and diverse perspective on the G20 agendas. As the 2023 host, India is framing the agenda around issues facing lower-income countries in global south. These include rising debt levels, persistently high inflation, depreciating local currencies, food insecurity, and increasing severe weather events associated with climate change. India the jewel of the global partnership on artificial intelligence GPI successfully hosted the GPS summit from December 12 to 14/20/23 at the Bharath mandapam in New Delhi. The primary aim was to ensure a collaborative and participatory approach steering AI to enhance governance and transform lives while building global partnerships and actively shaping the world’s technological landscape. The theme of the AI summit 2023 was advancing responsible AI in public sector applications. The 2024 AI for code global summit aims to identify practical applications of artificial intelligence AI to accelerate progress towards the SDG’s and scale solutions for global impact. Is systematic development a workshop entitled economic and social mobility held as part of the activities taking place on sidelines of the second global AI submit. Organized by Saudi data and artificial intelligence authority SDAIA under the theme countries such as India UK US and China have agreed to collaborate to protect against the potential harm caused by artificial intelligence AI. AI for the good for humanity.’ One of the central aims of AI is to develop systems that can analyze large data sets identify patterns and make data-driven decisions. This ability to solve problems and make decisions efficiently is invaluable across various industries from healthcare and finance to transportation and manufacturing. Father of Indian AI is often attributed to Dr Raj Reddy. He is the first person of Asian origin to receive Turing Award, often called the Nobel Prize in computer sciences. He is a renowned computer scientist and academician who made significant contributions to the field of artificial intelligence in India.
