Abstract

This study examines the challenges of skill development among workers in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector in India. There is a major importance of skill development for workers in the MSME sector, as it contributes to their personal and professional growth, and enhances the competitiveness of MSMEs in the global marketplace. The findings of the following literature review point to the fact that the major challenges of skill development in the MSME sector are limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, low awareness among employers and employees about the benefits of skill development, and the absence of a coordinated approach to skill development. Employers should also be encouraged to invest in the skill development of their employees by providing them with adequate resources and infrastructure. Additionally, the government should take proactive measures to promote and support skill development initiatives in the MSME sector. Overall, the research provides insights into the challenges of skill development in the MSME sector and offers recommendations to overcome them.
