Sustainability of Happiness: Social or Personal

Abstract

The origin of the word ‘Happiness’ dates back centuries ago. Various disciplines of science and social sciences have interpreted happiness as a state of positivity, joy, contentment, euphoria, victory etc. Greek word ‘Eudaimonia’ means happiness or welfare. The World Happiness Index that ranks the countries from the most happy to the least happy countries,  actually it is a mirror that reflects the happiness of their societies . Social Happiness depicts the happiness of the country which is in real terms means the state of mind of their respective societies . Personal happiness is  very subjective in nature and varies from time to time . However, depends on few universal factors like family, health, appreciation etc. Social happiness and Personal happiness are essential. Both Social and Personal Happiness are indispensable but personal happiness may be  considered more profound than the other.
