India- Sri Lanka Trade Relations Post ISFTA: An Empirical Analysis

Abstract
India has traditionally been one of Sri Lanka's greatest trading partners, and Sri Lanka continues to be one of India's top trade partners in the SAARC region. The bilateral trade between India and Sri Lanka has got a big boost after the implementation of ISFTA. The present study found that a robust trade flow between Indo-Sri Lanka with the signing of ISFTA, a major portion of India's exports to Sri Lanka went through the Sri Lankan negative list, while a significant portion of Sri Lanka's exports to India proceeded through the concession-offered route. The concessions provided to Sri Lanka improved access to the Indian market, the opposite was not true for India's exports to Sri Lanka.
