Abstract

Disparities are available in every economy of the world but it has different kinds of structure. Inter-regional disparities within a nation and intra-regional disparities within a state  both have potential drag effect on the economic growth of the nation as a whole. Equal Economic Growth is a significant standard for improving the economic and social condition of human being living in the society. Sustainable Development Goal 10 demands  inequality reduction within and among countries. (SDGs; GOAL 10)The rise in per capita income in urban areas is higher than rural areas, which shows income disparities among the two regions. (Roy, 2012) Income disparity in urban and rural areas in India shows regional disparity. Agriculture has been neglected and due to the backwardness in this sector also influences regional disparities. Poor infrastructure also leads to disparity as it made hard to achieve economic development because it discouraged private investors to invest and hurdles economic activities like transportation, industrialization, production, etc. It is necessary to maintain equal growth in hilly and plain districts for ultimate economic and social development; thus reduce poverty. The main focus should be on making District level planning and regional specific planning for better economic growth.
