Abstract

The United Nations FAO has designated International Year of Millets is 2023. Millets offer unique nutritional properties as well as unique agronomic properties (drought-resistant and ideal for semi-arid environments). In India, two types of millets are grown. Sorghum, pearl millet, and finger millet are major millets, whereas foxtail, tiny millet, kodo, proso, and barnyard millet are minor millets.Millets' health and environmental benefits are becoming more widely recognized, as well as initiatives to revive ancient agricultural practices and support small-scale farmers, are driving India's Millet Revolution. It is viewed as a way to address the country's dual issues of increasing public health and encouraging sustainable agriculture.
