Abstract

A mutual fund is a professionally managed investment fund that pools money from many investors to purchase securities. Mutual fund portfolio manager most of the time out perform the benchmark index with their superior security selection and timing. Investor can take around three-year time horizon for an alpha generation form fund manager. Investor can also make a portfolio using these techniques to avoid expense which is taken by mutual fund manager and company for managing the fund. A study is being undertaken to compare various schemes and it concludes that fund manager is using their skill and stock picking ability of top down and bottom-up approach.
