An Empirical Study on the Role of Good Governance in Achieving Sustainable Development for Inclusive Growth in Indian Territorial Areas

Abstract
The concept of inclusive growth aiming to diminish poverty and enhance access to education, health services, employment opportunities, and fundamental amenities, is intricate as well as poses challenges in assessment. The idea of Inclusivity encompasses employment, healthcare, education along with essential provisions such as water and hygiene. It represents a prolonged endeavor spanning several years. In the Indian context, progress is evident, but the rate of change is below the desired pace, and numerous initiatives are hindered by administrative inefficiencies and corruption. The effectiveness of environmental governance plays a pivotal role in ensuring environmental sustainability and fostering sustainable development. A region can move towards a more sustainable and equitable future for its citizens through effective governance practices and collaboration between all stakeholders. The study is based on a survey of 208 experts across different sectors to enquire about achieving sustainability through good governance. The results after an Exploratory Factor Analysis indicated that Effectiveness and efficiency, Long-term commitment, Strategic objectives, and Policy integration mechanisms of the governance are important factors that help to achieve sustainability. The study concludes that there is significant impact of good governance in achieving Sustainability.
